IN DEFENCE OF VERTIGO

Article 01 — Hippo-Launch

A brief explanation.
Or its opposite.

The Hippo is an often-satirical magazine exploring the ever-increasing waves of modernity through humor, paradox and oddity. Every once in a while we'll 'get serious'.

Our praxis puts the novel beside the essay, anthropology beside criticism, and a perfectly reasonable observation beside something that may take several readings to become less clear.

Purposefully obtuse, too vague or overly detailed, the idea of this magazine is to saturate our readership with content - academia for academia’s sake as we like to say here at the Hippo.

Difficulty can be a pleasure, not an entrance requirement. Bring your curiosity; no theoretical credentials are necessary. We want to publish writing, find readers and encourage new and younger writers to join the conversation.

Suggestions welcome... but may also be ignored
